Gluten Free Me

Jamie Oliver, Glasgow

I’ll be honest with you, I have visited a Jamie Oliver restaurant once before.

I never usually like to be negative about people’s hard work but it really wasn’t an experience for me. It was the Jamie Oliver restaurant in Aberdeen on Union Street. This was about 3 or 4 years ago, before it closed down (and before I was gluten free).

However, my recent trip to Glasgow has completely changed my opinion. I loved it!

I was with 4 other friends, 2 of which are engaged to be married and we were down in Glasgow for a wedding fayre (the rest of us were being supportive friends!) The girls were discussing where we were gonna go for dinner and when Jamie Oliver was mentioned, I was thinking… nooo please no! ?

Typical me, I went along with it and here we are.

We turned up at the table, I was scrambling around the menu looking for the all importing letters ‘GF’.

They weren’t there.

It only had ‘V’ and ‘VE’.

*Panic sets in* ???

Vegetarians and Vegans are always tailored to… we, who are gluten free, are lacking behind.

That’s what I thought. That was until THIS happened ?

The waitress placed THIS right in front of me…. my very own gluten free menu!

I have never BEEN so chuffed.

ALSO! LOOK. For those who like a gluten free beer… ?? (How good is that!)

From there, I struggled to figure out what I wanted because it all looked super tasty. ?

I decided to go for the Stracciatella to start which you can see ?

What is it? I hear you ask.

It is super-oozy mozzarella & black olive tapenade. I can tell you. It was absolutely D E L I C I O U S. All at £3.80.

For main… after much deliberation, I closed my eyes and picked at random…

*Drum roll please*

Jamie’s steak tagliata

The photo did not give the taste justice. It was beautiful!

It is a flash-cooked Dedham Vale bavette steak with rocket, slow roasted tomatoes, parmesan, balsamic & extra virgin olive oil. Just £16.

I added the sweet potato fries for extra yums!

The only downside (and its a small one), there wasn’t any GF choices for dessert (which is not unusual). However… if you’re a sorbet lover, then you’ll be absolutely fine. ?

Overall, I’m giving Jamie Oliver in Glasgow a whopping 10/10 for tastyness. Atmosphere was perfect and the service was 5 star.

Wanna go? You’ll find it here!

If you go, let me know how you get on!

See you again soon, Love Lauren ❤️
